Humans of MAC—11.14.14

Michael Bautista, Staff Writer
Featuring Arnold G.

“The happiest day of my life was when I had chance to conduct a professional orchestra of 100 musicians by myself. It was really a good experience because it was a dream becoming true. I still conduct different bands in Edmonton and Montreal.”

“How did you get to conduct?”

“I was in grade 7 when I asked my music teacher if he could teach me how to conduct. He said yes, so I was conducting my class in concerts and sometimes in festivals.”

“How much work did you put into learning to conduct?”

“I’ve put a lot of work into it. Whenever I had time, I found music on internet and started to learn how to conduct it. I watched a lot of videos on Youtube and other sites. I know that it’s weird but I even conduct on the bus. When I’m on my way to school or home, I put on some music and start conducting. It became something normal to me.”
